I might have fallen from pedestals of tented leaves, crystal podiums of glass. I might have been innocent as glass. I might have been beauty only skin deep, a flicker in your headlamp. I breathe you in through my skin.I smelled your first failing, faltering step into the blackness. every constellation is made up of arachnid eyes in my world. Eight stars to every quasar. And they se you as I see you. although you could break me in your hands, smear me with perfect indifference, a splinter of innocent glass would enter your bloodstream . . . not stopping until it found your vivid heart.

Last night
I dreamed of lemon sharks the color of an open flame with purple tiger stripes and terminal piranha mouths surrounding a diver, who stood her ground.

Its interesting to try to paint what you dream about, what you daydream about, and what you feel.
Riding my fire engine red Raleigh along 10th ave on, the sun hit my eyes and I saw an image of orchids, a pretty much immortal plant bursting out and nourished by a broken open human heart.
My images are never exactly how I picture them, but oddly enough a lot closer to how I feel about them by the time they are moved from imagination to canvas.

Where to Start. If I wait for the perfect sentence, the perfect artist statement, the perfect time, a better understanding of punctuation . . .this blog will never happen.

I have started and stopped. spent time working, painting, and making use of forward momentum.
Alternately, I have given all my energy chasing the sun. Drinking in personalities and wine on the beach. Dancing up a heat storm to warm my heart, dowsing my feet in the ocean. In a word, throwing my lot in with summer.

The worries of my age bracket sit like well worn books on a mental shelf. I run my hand along them gently in a familiar fashion. Always on the move, again looking for a new home. What are my next steps, ect. Age old, yet new to me, the eternal hope that I am where I need to be. That the risks I take are part of my learning, not some proverbial slippery slope. That my grasshopper heart wont forget all season are not summer . . .

What do I love?

Choices, so many choices. Its a good thing really. Like a box full of paint. All the choice of color is only overwhelming if you fail to reach in and grab a handful. There are no mistakes, just odd color combinations perhaps.
When you can't grab a handful, when your boldness is not there, pick one. Take one small step. Yellow, or blue, or even grey to start.
Here it is a first step. Petal pink, a blush. The blush that touches my neck at writing my rabbit trail thoughts as missives, tossed like messenger bottles from an island.
